My Transformation

My transformation began long before I realized it. Years of unexplained symptoms—hormone chaos, gut dysfunction, cystic acne, painful periods, chronic fatigue, anxiety, and digestive issues—slowly pulled me away from the sports and athletic identity I once loved. When my body stopped performing and no one could give me answers, I felt defeated. Shrinking myself became a way to try to control what I couldn’t control, grasping for stability in the midst of physical and emotional turmoil. Everything shifted when I finally chose to look deeper and search for the root of what was really happening inside my body. Functional diagnostic testing uncovered the true causes of my symptoms and led me into deep, inside-out healing—restoring my gut, supporting my hormones, nourishing my metabolism, and rebuilding my strength. Today, I am stronger, healthier, and more empowered than I ever was in my athletic prime. Strength training helped me reclaim my body, my confidence, and my purpose. I learned to honor the vessel God gave me—not by diminishing it, but by making it powerful, vibrant, and resilient. EMBODY is the blueprint of that transformation, and it’s now the roadmap I use to help women step into their strongest, healthiest, most fully empowered season.

About Me

I’m a blessed mom of two young athletes, a Navy veteran, and a proud Navy wife married to my hero. I have  spent my adult life serving others—first through the military, then through medicine, and now through functional wellness. My journey began in traditional healthcare as a Physician Assistant, fellowship-trained in orthopedic surgery with a strong background in physical rehabilitation and chronic pain. I spent years helping patients recover after injuries, regain mobility, and return to the activities they loved. But as I moved through my own health struggles—hormone chaos, gut dysfunction, unexplained fatigue, and the slow decline of feeling unlike myself—I realized that conventional medicine wasn’t giving me (or my patients) the full picture. My personal health challenges became the doorway into understanding how deeply the body, mind, and spirit are connected.

As I navigated my own seasons of burnout, chronic symptoms, and stepping away from the sports and strength I once identified with, I found myself searching for deeper answers. Functional diagnostic testing uncovered what years of symptoms had been trying to tell me: my body needed repair at the root level, not another pill, guess, or temporary fix. Through rebuilding my gut, supporting my hormones, restoring my metabolism, and returning to intentional strength training, I experienced the kind of transformation I didn’t think was possible at midlife. I not only healed—I grew stronger, more grounded, more aligned with the woman, mother and wife God created me to be. And that healing ignited a calling: to help other women reclaim their bodies, energy, identity, and purpose.

EMBODY by Shelly is the culmination of my health journey, my medical training, my functional medicine specialization, and the life lessons earned through motherhood, military life, and personal transformation. It is where science meets faith, where strength meets healing, and where women learn to rise from the inside out. Everything I teach—every program, every movement pattern, every piece of education—comes from years of clinical experience fused with the lived experience of rebuilding my own health. EMBODY is not just a program; it’s my living testimony, the blueprint of my journey and the mission God placed on my life: to help women step into their strongest, healthiest, most fully embodied season.
